Greetings from the library in the town of Tupper Lake, NY. It's the only place within an hour drive where I can access the internet. Yes, I am finally being a productive citizen and working my two weeks at scout camp.
This job has had its fair share of issues in the past, but this year looks like it might be my best yet. The kids are great, and we have been lucky enough to avoid troublemakers and homesickness. (Although by saying that, I've probably jinxed myself, and I'll get back to the site to find multiple knife fights and a kid crying that he wants to go home)
The guys I'm working with are great too. They're brothers that were in the troop with me, and now they work as firefighters for the city. They're also ND fans since they played football for the local high school known as the Little Irish (Complete with leprechaun mascot).
I still can't believe I get paid to do this, and I'm making the most of my time here. One of the first tasks upon arriving was to go to the local drinking establishment that very night. The Thirsty Moose is less than two miles from the camp entrance and is where all the staff hang out after hours. The bar is legendary at camp, and my dad even remembers it from his days working as staff.
Computers are in high demand, so I need to finish up. If I get back into town in the next week and a half, I'll post more updates, otherwise, I'll probably be out of touch for a while.
